Gedurende 2 weken in ZSenne wil Ariane Loze haar onderzoek in montage van beelden van Brussel verder zetten. Haar vertrekpunt is een simpele vraag: is het mogelijk om montage van beelden te benaderen als een choreografie van beelden in plaats van een verhalend middel.Of andersom: is het mogelijk om stillevens van de stad en haar beweging verhalend door de basistechnieken van montage?
De vele vensters van ZSenne zullen voorbijgangers de dagelijkse projecties laten zien, en ze zijn welkom om op dit portret van hun stad te reageren.
Nadat ze de principes van montage in kortfilms en performance onderzocht, gaat Ariane Loze nu op onderzoek in de Brusselse straten. De stad is in constante beweging, de passanten creëren ongewild duetten, trio's en koren... In een hedendaagse stadssymfonie stelt Ariane Loze zich de vraag of montage beschouwd worden als een techniek die zich bezighoudt met ritme, richting, snelheid, ruimte en beweging. Wat zijn de raakvlakken met dans en choreografie?
During a 2 weeks residence in ZSenne, Ariane Loze will carry on her research on editing, composing images shot in the city of Brussels. Her starting point is a simple question: is it possible to approach editing as choreography of images instead of as a tool to evoke narratives? Or the other way around: is it possible to fictionalize contemplative images of the city and her movement by means of the basic techniques of editing?
The numerous windows of ZSenne will allow passerby’s to see the daily projections and they will be welcome to comment on this portrait of their city.
After studying principles of editing in short films and performances, MÔWN (Movies on my own), Ariane Loze takes her research to the streets of Brussels. The city is in continuous movement, passerby’s unwillingly create duets and trio’s, choirs ... In a contemporary city symphony Ariane Loze ask herself the question whether editing can be considered a technique that deals with rhythm, direction, speed, space and movement as much as a dance.
