"Un-becoming" is het vervolg op het project "Becoming Lili", waarbij het publiek veranderde in zelf gecreëerde personages in hotelkamers. In"Un-becoming" komt het publiek binnen in een surrealistische installatie, waar een onzichtbare stem de bezoeker begeleidt om zich te ont-doen van zijn normale, vorige "zelf". Een meditatieve audiogids roept vragen over lichamelijke en materiële logica op, bevraagt deze nodigt publiek uit om een "post-menselijk" wezen te worden om zo een toekomst te verbeelden die niet gebaseerd is op de mensheid en waar het materiële nieuwe waarden krijgt.
Tijdens de residentie zal Helena Dietrich werken rond de audiogids en de installatie.
"Un-becoming" is the continuation of the project "Becoming Lili", where the audience created and transformed into self-made personages in hotel rooms. In »Un-becoming«, the audience enters alone into a surrealistic installation, where an invisible voice leads the person to 'un-become' and 'un-do' their former self. A meditative audio-guide invokes and questions bodily and material logics and asks the audience to re-build a 'post human' being and to image a future which is not centered around humanity, and where materials are re-valued.
In my residency in Zsenne I will work on the audio-guide and further develop the idea around the installation.
De Duitse designer en performer Helena Dietrich werkt en woont in Brussel sinds 4 jaar. Na haar Master in Europese Media aan de Universiteit van Portsmouth, werd "Becoming Lili" het voortgezette resultaat van haar onderzoeksproject bij a.pass. In haar werk legt ze de betekenis bloot van de symboliek die in onze esthetiek zit ingegebed (en door uitbreiding ook in onze persoonlijkheid). Haar werk werd getoond in o.a. het Staatstheater Stuttgart, Hebbel am Ufer Berlin, Beursschouwburg Brussel en Cinema Galleries Brussel. De laatste jaren werkt ze voor modeontwerper Jean-Paul Lespagnard en kunstenaars zoals Elke Van Campenhout, Heike Langsdorf en Einat Tuchmann
The German designer and performance artist Helena Dietrich is working and living in Brussels since 4 years. After her Master in European Media at the University of Portsmouth, "Becoming Lili" is the extended result of her research project at a.pass in Brussels, a postgraduate program for performance arts and scenography. In her work she lays out the significance of the symbolism that is embeded in esthetics (and by extension our identity). Her work has been exhibited amongst others at Staatstheater Stuttgart, Hebbel am Ufer Berlin, Beursschouwburg Brussels, Cinema Galeries Brussels. In the last years she has been working for fashion-designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard and other Brussels based artists like Elke van Campenhout, Heike Langsdorf and Einat Tuchman.
