Lilia Mestre & Marcos Simoes gaan in mei 2012 gedurende 2 weken aan het werk in ZSenne.
"We beschouwen de galerij als een ruimte om kunstwerken en documenten tentoon te stellen. We verplaatsen ons van de 'black box' naar een 'white cube' om de vluchtige vorm die eigen is aan performance tegenover de permanente aanwezigheid van documenten te stellen. We willen de status van beide formats doorbreken door ze te combineren. We willen een systeem ontwikkelen dat 'performance' kan vertalen in een 'document' en omgekeerd.
Hoe verplaatsen we een event van de 'black box' naar een 'white cube'? Hoe kunnen we een document als performance beschouwen?
De galerij is een ruimte die in een constante verhouding staat tot de buitenwereld. We bevinden ons niet meer in een afgesloten ruimte van het theater waarbinnen we een publiek uitnodigen op een gegeven moment. De zichtbaarheid van de constructie van de kunstwerken is fundamenteel voor de transparante werking van de systemen die we willen ontwikkelen. De wisselwerking tussen de binnen- en buitenwereld is hierbij zeer belangrijk."
Ai! Dubbing / 1ste week – 14,15, 16 en 19 mei 2012
Samen met Marcelo Mardones werken we aan het finale document, namelijk een documentaire over het Ai! Dubbing systeem.
De galerij zal worden omgebouwd tot een cinema studio waarbij de techniek blootgelegd en getoond wordt aan de toeschouwer.
De vernissage op het einde van de week bestaat uit een slotperformance (het maken van de documentaire): vrijdag 19/5 17.00u
Ai! Objects / 2e week - 21 tot 25 mei 2012
Het publiek en de buurt als deel van de context van de performance.
We werken samen met Christophe Albertijn aan de ontwikkeling van Ai! Objects, waarbij de toeschouwers fungeren als acteurs en de omliggende straten als scène. We willen aan de slag met deze tijdelijke gemeenschap die wordt gevormd door dit sociale ritueel.

In May 2012, Lilia Mestre and Marcos Simoes will work for two weeks in the Gallery ZSenne in the center of Brussels.
"We see the gallery space as a place to present oeuvres and documents. We’ll be going from the black box to the white cube questioning the place of performance as a life momentary form to the place of the object as permanent evidence.
Our plan is to work with both formats and challenge their status in contemporary art. We want to develop systems that allow us to translate and relocate performance and document.
How to translate events from a black box to the white cube? How to see the document as performance? And how to see the performance as a document by changing its formats?
The space of the gallery is a permeable space by the constant relation to the outside world. We are not anymore in an excluded environment where the audience is invited to come in at a certain point. The constant visibility of the construction of the artwork will be fundamental on the construction of systems. The circularity of the inside and the outside is an aspect that cannot be denied."
Ai! Dubbing / 1st week – 14,15, 16 and 19th May 2012
Together with Marcelo Mardones we will be working on the process of making a final document / documentary about the Ai! Dubbing system.
The gallery will be transformed in a cinema studio where the apparatus is apparent and can be shared with the visitors.
The final performance (the making of the documentary) will happen as a vernissage at the end of the week: Friday 17.00h
Ai! Objects / 2nd week - 21 until 25th May 2012
The audience and the streets as part of the context of the performance.
In the score Ai! Objects for instant improvisation with movement, voice and sound we’ll work with Christophe Albertijn on the development and presentation of the project including the visitors and the street surroundings as co- actors and stage.
We want to explicitly work on the temporary community that is formed by this social ritual.
Showing Friday 25 May at 19.00 folowed by an after talk with the performers.
